Naughty, naughty boy!

A couple of weeks ago, while I was taking a shower, Skyler found a pen and decided to draw all over our love seat and ottoman. As I got out of the shower he said "I found you pen" and I said "What pen?", "You white pen" I, for the life of me, had no idea what white pen he was referring to, so I asked him to show me. He takes me out to the living room and shows me the white pen on the floor by the couch and then showed me his lovely drawing on the couch. Crazy enough I didn't get too upset with him. For 1, I didn't have time, we were on our way to go babysit his friend, Ethan, and we were already running late. And for 2, I've had these couches for 10 years and I've always been able to get stains out of them pretty well. So, I decided we'd deal with it when we got home. Here's a small sample of his artwork...
He managed to cover both cushions on the love seat, one of the arms and the ottoman in big black scribbles. Here's my naughty little boy standing by his masterpiece...
You better believe that when we got home I made him help me scrub the couch. Luckily, isopropyl alcohol took the ink out of my leather couches. And here's a sample of what our conversation sounded like for the entire rest of the day:
Me: Skyler, do we write on the walls?
Skyler: No
Me: Do we write on the furniture?
Skyler: No
Me: Do we write on our clothes?
Skyler: No
Me: Do we write on Dylan?
Skyler: No
Me: Do we write on the carpet?
Skyler: No
Me: Where do we write?
Skyler: Only on paper!
We literally went over this, over and over and over. I thought I drilled it into his head pretty good. Apparently NOT! A few days later I get out of the shower to find this...
Yes, that IS permanent marker on my sweet little Dylan's head. This time I might have lost my cool a little. I was way more mad about the permanent marker on Dylan than I was him drawing all over the couch. Partly because we had been drilling it into him all week to "Only draw on paper" and partly because whenever I get permanent marker on my hands it seems to take forever to wear off, and this was on Dylan's face. How on earth do you explain that every time you go out in public? "Yes, I left my children unattended with a permanent marker and this is what happened" Mother of the year, right here! Luckily, isopropyl alcohol came to the rescue again and took it right off his skin.

I guess I really cannot leave that child unattended for even a minute because he takes any opportunity he can to get into trouble. In the same week, Rich stayed home with the boys one night and let me go to a Relief Society meeting and during that time Skyler found a pair of scissors and cut up one of our blankets. What will it be next?

Fun with friends

A couple of weeks ago, when the weather was actually sunny, we had several fun play dates with friends. We got to go walk around Capitol Lake and play in the fountain with Jenny, Titon & Diesol one day.
Skyler & Titon running around the fountain

Jenny & the boys playing in the water

Dylan liked the fountain too

He really liked watching the big kids run around in the water

He thought it was funny when he got splashed

Diesol, Dylan, Skyler & Titon

Skyler & Titon had a blast running around chasing each other!

LBA Park got a brand new super fun playground that just opened this month. So, we met some friends there and had a great time checking out all the new playground equipment.
Sophia, Skyler, Lily, Adam & Landon playing on the merry-go-round together

Skyler, James & Landon

Skyler LOVES to swing!

They even have a zip-line at the new playground for the bigger kids. Skyler loved it too!

Our friend, Becky, was at the bottom of the zip-line to catch the little kiddos and help them get off

And Juli was at the top to help them get on

SO FUN!!

Since we had so much fun with our friends we had to go back again with Rich so he could see how cool it was too

When did my little Skyler get so big???

Mommy & Dylan

Peek-a-boo

This kid is seriously the HAPPIEST BABY EVER!

Skyler liked climbing down the little climbing wall

And Dylan liked the merry-go-round...

...especially when Skyler was spinning him around

Two Happy Little Boys!

This Chevron Car that I've had since I was a teenager has become one of Skyler's favorite toys. He plays with it all the time and it's quickly becoming one of Dylan's favorite toys as well. He'll crawl all the way across the room to it if he sees it abandoned on the floor. I'm not sure what it is about this car that they both love, maybe it's the bright red color? At any rate, one day Rich decided to pick up a new Chevron Car for the boys when he was at the gas station and it made me start to think, if they love these cars so much I wonder if I could find a lot of them on Ebay. So, I went on Ebay and sure enough, there are tons of them on there. I found a lady selling some used ones and even figuring in the cost of shipping I was able to get a big box of them for about $3.50 a piece, which is quite a bit cheaper than the $8-$30 they are brand new. And today was the day they arrived!!!
I wish I could have gotten a better picture of Skyler's face as he opened his big box of cars. He was sooo excited!

Here he is excitedly pulling out all of his new cars

He calls the tow truck "Mater"

Dylan was happy to play with the bubble wrap...at first :)

He REALLY likes the muddy green one!

This kid is seriously in heaven!

He's being pretty good about sharing them with Dylan too, as long as he picks what car Dylan plays with

I'm not exactly sure what Skyler's doing here but this is how they play all day long. They're always cracking each other up

I love this picture because you can see Dylan's 2 bottom teeth, and you can also see how close his top 2 are to coming in...any day now.

Playing on the floor together

Dylan is definitely liking the new assortment of cars to play with too

I think his crawling skills will greatly improve in the next few days because as he was trying to play with the cars tonight he would reach for them and end up pushing them farther away from him and then he'd have to keep crawling around trying to get them. It was pretty cute to watch!
Anybody who wants to come over for a Chevron Car play-date is welcome. I think we have enough to go around now :)
