Winter 2012 Snow Storm: Day 4

So, Tuesday afternoon the sun came out and melted some of our snow away. No worries though, Tuesday night we got dumped on. I'm talkin' a foot of NEW snow overnight. It was crazy! Even crazier was that Tristan had to fly out to Louisiana on Wednesday, so bright and early Wednesday morning Rich braved the nasty roads and took him to the airport. Luckily, Rich is an excellent driver in the ice and snow so he made it there and back just fine.

Here's our back yard covered in a foot of new snow

Afternoon of day 3...he's leaning pretty far now

Evening of day 3...he finally fell over

Day 4...buried in a foot of new snow

Rich threw Skyler out in the front yard to measure how much snow we had. Skyler did NOT like it!

That's alotta snow!

16 inches! And that's after we had a couple of inches melt away.

Everything looks so pretty all covered in white!

Since we had so much snow, of course, we had to go sledding again. This time Chris and Christie came with us. It was really COLD! We didn't last long because this little cutie was shivering. He still had fun though!

Christie totally won!

When we got home we all warmed up with hot cocoa, even Dylan. This was his first time having hot chocolate...

...I think he liked it!

Winter 2012 Snow Storm: Day 3

Well, the weather predictions of rain/snow mix were wrong and we got more snow. About another 3-4 inches between Sunday night and Tuesday. So, the snow fun continued on for longer than expected.
Our snowman started leaning over from the weight of the extra snow on him.
I made the boys scrambled eggs and toast for their snowy morning breakfast. This was Dylan's 1st time having scrambled eggs and he loved them!

It's looking like a blizzard out there!

Rich decided to try out the new snow shovel when the snow let up a bit

But then he got called out to work so that's as far as the shoveling got. He was pretty happy to have our new 4 wheel drive car in the garage so he didn't have to dig the truck out every time he needed to leave.

I was working out on the elliptical machine and apparently, Dylan got tired. So he found his blankie and fell asleep on the floor

So cute!

After Rich was done working, we headed to LBA park for some sledding. Here's Skyler taking his 1st run down the hill.

Rich's turn

Dylan's 1st time sledding. He absolutely loved it and was grinning from ear to ear.

So much fun!!!

Winter 2012 Snow Storm: Day 1

On Sunday, January 15th, we got our first taste of snow this winter. We were so excited! We got about 3 inches and couldn't wait to go out and play in it. The weather forecasters were calling for a rain/snow mix for the rest of the week, so we didn't think the snow would last very long. We bundled up and headed out to the backyard for some family fun in the snow.
Skyler with his sand toys...they make excellent snow toys, too

After our fun in the snow we came inside to get warm with some hot cocoa and mini marshmallows.

Yummy!
What a fun day we had!
