Birthday Fun

Well I'm officially 30 now.......I'm still finding that hard to say. I have not been looking forward to turning the big 3~0 but my awesome friends and family made it a lot of fun for me!!! My little sister flew in from San Diego Tuesday night to spend my birthday with me. I always love having her around!!! We have so much fun together. On Wednesday was my actual birthday and it was a wonderful day. I got to go have lunch at Wagner's with AJ, Rich, Chris, Denise and Skyler. Then I got to go get my hair done (It was long overdue) I told Eva (my hair stylist) to go crazy and do whatever she wanted and it came out great. Something about a new cut and color always makes me feel better!! Dinner was great, we went to Ricardo's with Melissa and Elvis which was a lot of fun since I never get to see them. It was nice to get to catch up with them. And my sweet hubby bought me diamond earrings for my birthday. What a great guy!!!
Saturday was the day we had lots of fun birthday festivities planned. We started off the day with some shopping. I was in desperate need of some new clothes and was lucky enough to actually find some I liked. Then we were off to the Melting Pot for dinner. I have been looking forward to going there for weeks with all of our friends and it was amazing!!! After dinner we decided to catch the 8:30 showing of New Moon which AJ and I have been dying to see. We were not disappointed!!! Can't wait to see Eclipse!!! Yeah that's right we're Twilight dorks and proud of it!!! The best part is we managed to get 4 guys to go with us to see the movie. We won't name names but let's just say they didn't hate the movie and we actually caught them laughing a time or two. Thanks for going with us boys...we love you!!!
Anyway here are some pictures of our fun evening.

Yummy!!!

I love this girl she's the best!!! That beautiful necklace that I'm wearing was my B-day present from her. It's got 2 amethyst hearts which just happen to be Skyler and AJ's birthstones. How perfect. I love it!!!

Aren't they so cute in their button up shirts!!

I love this picture!! Skyler always has so much fun with his Uncle Chris.

So I thought I had actually succeeded in getting Skyler to eat bananas however I later discovered that he was just sucking the chocolate off of the bananas and then spitting them out. What a funny kid!!!

Smart kid trying to lick the chocolate off of his fingers....that's my boy!!!

In the theater waiting for New Moon to start. Who looks the most excited to see the movie? I'd have to say Rich does!!! :) Oh and Skyler was a champ and fell asleep right as the movie started and slept through the whole thing. I love that I can take him anywhere!!!

Here we are posing by the New Moon poster .....yeah, yeah we're dorks and we know it. But hey we have fun and that's all that matters.

Utah trip

Well I kept my promise to Chris and went on a road trip to Utah for conference now that he's home from his mission. Road trips are not my vacation of choice and I wasn't too sure how we were going to survive with an 8 month old but Skyler was such a champ and hardly fussed at all the whole time we were gone. He slept about 95% of the 14 1/2 hour drive down to Utah. Thank you Skyler!!! We drove all night Thursday and arrived in Salt Lake City at about 8am on Friday. I highly recommend staying at Marriott Spring Hill Suites whenever you travel. They are awesome!!! They let us check in at 8am even though check in time wasn't till 3pm. It was so nice because we were all very tired and wanted to nap before exploring Salt Lake.
It was a lot of fun to get to see temple square where Cheryl served her mission. And for me church history is a lot more meaningful when you can see the places you learn about. I thought we would have a lot more free time than we did so I didn't get to do very many of the things that I wanted to but all in all it was a good trip anyway. However I don't believe I'll be planning another trip to Utah for quite a while because the air is too dry for me. How is it possible for your nose to be painfully dry and stuffy at the same time? I'm still baffled by it!!!

Here are some pictures of our fun trip.

Hour 1 into our 14 1/2 drive and already sleeping like a champ

Listening to his music on dad's iphone (he loves the crazy cd my mom bought him)

Having lunch at the Lion House.....it was so delicious!!!
Skyler enjoying some of my Lion House roll

Rich and Skyler on Temple Square

Salt Lake City Temple

Conference Center

Skyler havin' fun in the bath at the hotel. It was his first time in a real bathtub. I usually still bathe him in the sink because it's easier for me so this was a treat for him.

All dressed up for conference in the suit Grandma Denise, Uncle Chris and I found for him. Doesn't he look so handsome!!!

Inside one of the visitors centers

Our happy little family

He really liked checking himself out in the mirror

Riding the train to go get lunch

Playing with his buddy Emily at lunch

Thanks to Uncle Chris and Emily for watching Skyler so Rich and I could go to a session of conference in the conference center. It was really cool!!

We're pretty sure Skyler was the most photographed person on temple square. Not only did we take his picture like crazy cuz he's just so darn cute but random strangers were taking pictures of him and with him and several of the photographers for the church magazines photographed him too. He was practically famous!!!

You gotta love how little boys' shirts NEVER stay tucked in

This was right before Skyler got swarmed by a group of teenage girls who were in love with him. He is turning into quite the ladies man he was just eating up all the attention and flashing his great smile at all the girls. It was pretty funny!!!

Skyler with his buddy Jessica (the most awesome front desk person ever) at our hotel

We did manage to make it to the BYU bookstore so here's dad and son sporting their new hats

Doesn't he look so tiny here!!!

We encountered some snow in Idaho on our way home

So sleepy and tired of being in his car seat but still being a good sport. He survived 1,984 miles in the car. What a good little traveler we have. I made the boys promise me that since I humored them and went on a road trip with them our next vacation will be the way I like to travel......a cruise :)

Thanks for the fun trip guys!!!
