Utah trip

Well I kept my promise to Chris and went on a road trip to Utah for conference now that he's home from his mission. Road trips are not my vacation of choice and I wasn't too sure how we were going to survive with an 8 month old but Skyler was such a champ and hardly fussed at all the whole time we were gone. He slept about 95% of the 14 1/2 hour drive down to Utah. Thank you Skyler!!! We drove all night Thursday and arrived in Salt Lake City at about 8am on Friday. I highly recommend staying at Marriott Spring Hill Suites whenever you travel. They are awesome!!! They let us check in at 8am even though check in time wasn't till 3pm. It was so nice because we were all very tired and wanted to nap before exploring Salt Lake.
It was a lot of fun to get to see temple square where Cheryl served her mission. And for me church history is a lot more meaningful when you can see the places you learn about. I thought we would have a lot more free time than we did so I didn't get to do very many of the things that I wanted to but all in all it was a good trip anyway. However I don't believe I'll be planning another trip to Utah for quite a while because the air is too dry for me. How is it possible for your nose to be painfully dry and stuffy at the same time? I'm still baffled by it!!!

Here are some pictures of our fun trip.

Hour 1 into our 14 1/2 drive and already sleeping like a champ

Listening to his music on dad's iphone (he loves the crazy cd my mom bought him)

Having lunch at the Lion House.....it was so delicious!!!
Skyler enjoying some of my Lion House roll

Rich and Skyler on Temple Square

Salt Lake City Temple

Conference Center

Skyler havin' fun in the bath at the hotel. It was his first time in a real bathtub. I usually still bathe him in the sink because it's easier for me so this was a treat for him.

All dressed up for conference in the suit Grandma Denise, Uncle Chris and I found for him. Doesn't he look so handsome!!!

Inside one of the visitors centers

Our happy little family

He really liked checking himself out in the mirror

Riding the train to go get lunch

Playing with his buddy Emily at lunch

Thanks to Uncle Chris and Emily for watching Skyler so Rich and I could go to a session of conference in the conference center. It was really cool!!

We're pretty sure Skyler was the most photographed person on temple square. Not only did we take his picture like crazy cuz he's just so darn cute but random strangers were taking pictures of him and with him and several of the photographers for the church magazines photographed him too. He was practically famous!!!

You gotta love how little boys' shirts NEVER stay tucked in

This was right before Skyler got swarmed by a group of teenage girls who were in love with him. He is turning into quite the ladies man he was just eating up all the attention and flashing his great smile at all the girls. It was pretty funny!!!

Skyler with his buddy Jessica (the most awesome front desk person ever) at our hotel

We did manage to make it to the BYU bookstore so here's dad and son sporting their new hats

Doesn't he look so tiny here!!!

We encountered some snow in Idaho on our way home

So sleepy and tired of being in his car seat but still being a good sport. He survived 1,984 miles in the car. What a good little traveler we have. I made the boys promise me that since I humored them and went on a road trip with them our next vacation will be the way I like to travel......a cruise :)

Thanks for the fun trip guys!!!

It's been so long.....

Well waiting a month in between blog posts is obviously too long cuz way too much happens in that amount of time. There are a million pictures below that have all been taken over the last month. I'll explain all of the new things that have happened in the pictures........

Skyler is becoming more and more of a bully every day. Here he is picking on his Uncle Chris.

He can now eat real food. Here he is with one of his favorite things, Lucky Charms....like father like son (oh and he got his 4 top front teeth in now so that makes 6 teeth already)

He's trying to get into everything

We went to Fry Cove Park with Chris and Emily

Rich celebrated his 27th birthday. We went to El Gaucho in Tacoma for dinner. It's one of Rich's favorite restaurants and was DELICIOUS!!! It was also our first "date" without Skyler. Thanks to Grandma Denise for watching Skyler so we could have a nice evening out!!!

Skyler grew out of his baby car seat and had to get a new big boy car seat
And discovered how fun playing with boxes can be....... Inside the car seat box

On top of the car seat box

Back inside the box but with mom this time

Skyler developed an attachment to Curious Geroge

Giving George kisses
He can pull himself up and get into things he's not allowed to play with

Here he is sleeping in his own room in his crib for the first time....It was much harder on me than it was on him. He didn't seem to mind at all and now sleeps from 8pm till 5 or 6am. It is wonderful!!!

We put him to bed awake and this is how he fell asleep............
2 nights in a row

On his 7 month birthday we took him to his first baseball game (and they won).....Go Tacoma Rainiers!!!

As you can tell he had a blast!! Here he is screaming and cheering his team on.

This for some reason is one of his favorite things to do

All dressed up for church and looking very handsome
such a sweet face

This duck has become his favorite toy this week. He's always got it in his hand
Align Center
And last but not least.... drum roll please...... Skyler can crawl!!!!
